Innovation and Development Specialist
Create, evolve, and deliver member engagement experiences that positively impact members and their communities. Thrivent Financial is looking for a creative, collaborative, high-capacity, consumer/member-centric person to serve as Senior New Business Development Specialist on their Member Attraction and Activation team. This position is responsible for providing analytical, operational, and research support for new development initiatives. This position will rotate among a variety of initiatives and programs including Thrivent Choice, Thrivent Action Teams, Thrivent Builds and other membership benefits, and will assist with generating, testing, and refining new program ideas. This position may also lead development initiatives under the direction from a leader or director.

Job Description

+ Lead creation and execution of project plans for new initiatives.

+ Design processes required to test and refine new ideas.

+ Create and maintain financial models for new initiatives.

+ Conduct basic market research and analyze results identifying the insights and implications of the research results.

+ Define operational needs of new initiatives.

+ Analyze datasets identifying success metrics and scorecards to measure results.

+ Apply rigor to monitoring the success of programs/initiatives and continuously improve results. Gathers field, member and stakeholder feedback to ensure alignment and optimize effectiveness.

+ Develop trusted relationships with stakeholders to collaborate and align on goals and outcomes.

+ Approach problem solving through creativity, research, analysis, ideation, planning, metric formation, testing and more.

+ Assist with change management efforts; stakeholder management and associated communications.

+ Provide guidance and mentorship to other Member Attraction and Activation teammates applying innovation and development processes, tools, and mindset.

Job Qualifications:

+ College degree required

+ MBA or other advanced degrees a plus

+ 3+ years of project management and/or innovation and development experience

+ Sound knowledge of new business development concepts

+ Experience with more than one element of the development process: idea generation, idea testing, test and idea refinement, and implementation.

+ Success in completing multiple projects at one time

+ Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with others

+ Ability to decide and act without having the total picture, and comfortable with ambiguity

+ Demonstrated proficiency in several of the following functional areas: project management, financial acumen, stakeholder management, market research, technology management, and process design

+ Familiarity with or experience applying design thinking or human-centered-design a plus

+ Familiarity with or experience applying agile and scrum principles a plus

+ Sound knowledge of financial services industry and fraternal benefit societies

Other Critical Factors:

+ Ability to travel between Appleton and Minneapolis and possibly to other destinations as warranted by research and test plans. Most times this will be minimal, but could have periods of more frequent travel.

+ Functions well in virtual work teams

+ Experience and background working with Christian leaders and the Christian community
